Hi! I’m Minnie Mae, the store mascot at The Unicorn Gift Store! If you shop at our store, you will see me on leash (yes, can you believe it? A cat on a leash!!) at the back of the store. My owner, Nancy, insists that I stay on leash during store hours so I don’t get underfoot or run out the door into traffic. She is such a worry wart!! Doesn’t she know that I am much to smart for that???!!

At any rate, let me tell you how I got my job as mascot at The Unicorn. Eight years ago, someone dropped me off at Nancy’s brother’s house, out in the country. He already had two cats and didn’t have room for me in the house so I just hung out in the yard. One day while Nancy was visiting, she met me for the first time. I must admit, I was so cute…running around, playing tag with her and climbing into her lap. I was just a little tiny thing, and she fell in love with me instantly. (who wouldn’t??) And to be honest with you, I fell in love with her, too! There was only one problem. Nancy also had two cats at the time, and didn’t have room for me at her house either. What were we to do? I really wanted to go home with her, so I turned on all my charm, purring as hard as I could. Then an idea came to Nancy….why not take me to The Unicorn, where we could be together everyday? The Unicorn needed a mascot, and I needed a home!! Well, the rest is history. I now have a full time job at The Unicorn, meeting and greeting every customer who comes into the store. Why, I even have my own following!! There are people who come in just to see me!!! I love my job, and I love my owner and I love everyone who comes to visit me. Am I a lucky cat, or what?
